Bomas of Kenya in Langata exists to keep the country’s traditional cultures visible in one place. Spread across the grounds are recreated homesteads, or bomas, built in the authentic style of the Kikuyu, Maasai, Luhya, Luo, Kalenjin, Kamba, Taita, Mijikenda and Kisii, each laid out the way it would be at home.
The daily performance in the main auditorium is what most people remember. The resident Harambee Dancers work through traditional songs and dances from across Kenya, among them the Maasai adumu and the acrobatic routines of the Samburu and the coast. If you want a sense of how varied this country actually is and you only have an afternoon, this is the most efficient way to get it, and it makes a good first-day activity before you head out on safari. Entrance fees, transfers, drinking water and a guide are included.
