Nairobi National Park is one of Kenya’s most unique wildlife destinations, offering an unforgettable safari experience just a short drive from the heart of Nairobi. Established in 1946, it is Kenya’s oldest national park and provides a remarkable opportunity to see wildlife against the backdrop of the city skyline.

Despite its proximity to Nairobi, the park features expansive open grasslands, scattered acacia woodland, seasonal wetlands, and diverse habitats that support a wide range of wildlife.

Visitors can expect to see animals such as lion, black and white rhinoceros, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, hippo, and numerous antelope species. The park is also an excellent destination for birdwatchers, with a variety of resident and migratory bird species.

Detailed itinerary

Early Morning Pick-Up:
Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or accommodation in Nairobi. You will join other travelers in a shared safari Jeep and proceed to Nairobi National Park, located just a short drive from the city center.

6:00 AM – Enter Nairobi National Park

Arrive at the park as the gates open and begin your 5-hour game drive. The early morning is a wonderful time to explore the park as wildlife becomes active and the temperatures are cooler.

Enjoy an extended game drive through the park’s open plains, grasslands and riverine areas. Your experienced safari driver-guide will help you search for wildlife and share information about the animals, their behavior and the park’s conservation efforts.

Keep your camera ready for possible sightings of lions, black rhinos, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, hippos, warthogs, antelopes and a variety of bird species. Nairobi National Park is home to more than 100 animal species and over 400 bird species.

The shared safari Jeep provides an excellent viewing platform for photography while allowing you to enjoy the safari experience together with fellow travelers.

After approximately five hours of wildlife viewing, exit Nairobi National Park and begin the return journey to your hotel or preferred drop-off point in Nairobi.
